Mead, also called hydromel, is a traditional alcoholic beverage made with honey, water and yeast. Mead is considered one of the oldest drinks in the world, with a consumer registration dated 10,000 years ago. In Nordic mythology was considered the “nectar of the gods” because it was their favorite drink. Historically, this was the first alcohol produced by the man before the appearance of the vineyard. The Romans gave them aphrodisiac properties!
