Origin and Plantation

In 1999, 14 coffee producers started to collaborate in the foundation of a cooperation for sustainable and eco-friendly coffee production. Their aim: to maintain the animals' habitat and avoid the contamination of the local water reserves. The co-operation is called "Kachalú", a word they themselves interpret as "Hope". The Kachalú plantations are surrounded by a tropical forest, which is also home to the endangered Andean Oak Tree. The climate here is hot and humid.
